Specific ISO standards test the communication between a contact and/or contactless interface with a terminal or handset.
Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) is a wireless technology supported by many different vendors for smart cards and terminals. In order to ensure global operability of the products, multiple test standards have been developed. UL offers test services with regards to the following ISO compliance standards:
- ISO 14443 is an international standard that defines proximity cards used for identification, and the transmission protocols for communicating with it
- ISO 7816 is an international standard related to electronic identification cards with contacts, especially smart cards.
- ISO 10373 is an international standard for conformance to ISO 14443.
Who needs ISO compliance?
Developers of payment and mobile products need to comply with certain ISO standards.
What can UL do for me?
UL offers functional testing of Level 1 contact and contactless ISO 7816 and ISO 10373. Furthermore, we have designed specific test tools for card vendors and terminal vendors that test against the ISO standards, ensuring ISO compliance and interoperability.
