Visa Ready mPOS Evaluation

The Visa Ready Partner Program enables mobile Point Of Sale (mPOS) providers to quickly bring compliant solutions to market.

With the advancement and global adoption of mobile technology, mobile point-of-sale solutions are more accessible to serve merchants of all sizes to accept card payments. Visa recognizes the growth opportunity, and is taking steps to accelerate the deployment of trusted solutions in the marketplace. UL has two participating laboratories at the Visa Ready Partner Program for mPOS, one is located in Victoria, Australia and the other in San Luis Obispo, California (previously known as Infogard). This participation coupled with our broad security and payment device experience, UL is equipped to support this initiative by efficiently and effectively evaluating your mPOS device(s) to the Visa Ready requirements as it applies to your technology.

Devices eligible for evaluation and approval include the following product types:

  • Mobile Point of Sale PIN Entry Devices
  • Secure Card Readers (SCRs)
  • Mobile Payment Applications

  • UL's laboratory in San Luis Obispo (formerly known as Infogard)  was the first laboratory approved to perform PIN Entry Device (PED) evaluations under the Visa PED program, the predecessor to the Payment Card Industry (PCI) program, and has performed over 175 device evaluations resulting in approvals.
  • UL is the only laboratory in the United States to offer both Visa Ready and PCI PIN Transaction Security (PTS) testing services.
  • This experience allows us to be more efficient during the mPOS evaluation process. As a result, prior PCI SSC Approval of your hardware or application provides a discounted price.
