UL’s EMV Personalization Validation Tool is ready for Mastercard® CPV 10.1

June 8, 2017 - UL is proud to announce that its EMV Personalization Validation Tool is ready for testing both contact and contactless payment cards according to Mastercard’s CPV 10.1 card personalization validation process.

Mastercard® issuers introducing new EMV contact or contactless cards and mobile payment applications are required to complete Mastercard’s Card Personalization Validation (CPV) Formal Approval Services. The CPV process is mandatory for issuers to obtain an approval, indicating that the card or mobile payment personalization data is compliant with Mastercard requirements. The new release of the UL EMV Personalization Validation Tool is qualified by Mastercard to test according to Card Personalization Validation (CPV) 10.1 Test Tool requirements.

The UL EMV Personalization Validation Tool is a comprehensive test tool for issuers, card personalization bureaus and card manufacturers that want to validate the personalization of their contact/contactless payment cards and mobile payment applications. It checks the correctness of a card application personalization and provides full, readable reports including explanations of errors and observations found. Apart from American Express, UL also provides Validation Modules for the EMV Personalization Validation Tool for Discover, JCB, Mastercard, Visa, UnionPay International and various domestic schemes. Through the service portal, the tool is always up to date with the latest requirements and specifications from the payment schemes.
