Issuing Test Tools

Ensure quality of your products by testing them with the Collis issuing test tools. Supporting the entire chain of Issuing, Collis tools have industry recognition and accreditation.

Issuers can use the Collis EMV Personalisation Validation Tools for card personalization validation; ensuring the quality of their personalised contact and contactless payment cards. Also available is the Collis Host Test Tool for ensuring that the Authorisation Host System is capable of handling the new technology that is implemented on payment cards.

UL Transaction Security delivers a wide range of tools that perform personalization validation checks on cards to comply with industry standards and issuer defined profiles.

Collis EMV PVT

The Collis EMV Personalization Validation Tool (Collis EMV PVT) is the ideal tool for card personalization validation (CPV). it helps card manufacturers and issuers producing correctly personalized EMV cards. It is the most thorough, comprehensive testing tool available in the market today for card personalization validation (CPV) testing, and simplifying quality control in personalization. All relevant (test) specifications for the personalization of contact or contactless cards are fully covered.

With just one click of a button, you can store, validate, retrieve, and examine all personalization data of EMV smart card applications such as chip, magnetic stripe, embossing data, asymmetric keys and PIN. The Collis EMV PVT provides full, readable reports including explanations of errors and observations found. These reports give a quick and clear feedback to developers of the location and nature of the errors found. For development, this speeds up time-to-market considerably.

The following modules are available:

  • CPV module for MasterCard (incl. Maestro, Cirrus, PayPass™ and CAP) - prepare yourself for MasterCard Formal Approval Services certification
  • VISA Validation module (incl. Credit, Debit, DPA, VPAY, payWave for EU/CEMEA/AP/USA/Visa Global Test Suite)
  • JCB Validation module (incl. J/Smart, J/Speedy)
  • Discover & Diners Validation module
  • Collis Utilities & Cryptography module
  • Domestic modules; Cartes Bancaires, FISC, SPAN, Interac FLASH

Collis EMV PVT for Production

The Collis EMV Personalization Validation Tool for production forms a fast check, including a template check on a sample card when it physically comes out of the personalization machine.

One of the biggest challenges that smart card issuers are still faced with is faulty card production. Imagine receiving the green light for production of your smart card only to be confronted later with unexpected costs associated with flaws in the actual card production process. Regular updates to EMV standards do not make this process any easier.

UL Transaction Security solves these challenges head on by offering the Collis Personalisation Validation for Production tool; an offspring to the original market-leading Collis EMV PVT.

Collis Card Spy

The Collis Card Spy allows issuers and acquirers to spy the communication and measurement of the performance between a smart card (EMV card) and an EMV Terminal - both ATM and POS terminals. Primarily, it assists in learning and pinpointing interoperability-related issues and/or contactless problems that may arise, and troubleshoots communication issues.

In addition, Collis Card Spy monitors the communication between electronic passports, NFC mobiles, tokens, e-purses, etc. that are compliant with the ISO 14443 standard for contactless communication.

The Collis Card Spy provides an automatic interpretation of smart card commands and responses, showing the application protocol bytes that are being exchanged, including:

  • ISO 7816 for T=0 and T=1 protocol
  • ISO 14443 for either type A or type B card protocol
  • Clockchanges
  • Supply voltage events
  • Time stamp feature allows for accurate time measurements on the byte level

The spy tool contains the following modules:

  • Payment analyses ISO 7816-3, ISO 7816-4 and EMV, MasterCard PayPass and Visa payWave  (e.g. e-purse, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, etc.)
  • eID analyses ISO 7816-3, ISO 7816-4, ISO 14443 and ICAO (which governs the ePassport applications)  (e.g. driving license, healthcare card, etc.)
  • Transit analyses ISO 7816-3, ISO 14443 and MIFARE DESFIRE  (e.g. SAM, e-Ticketing card, etc.)

Collis Card Image Editor

The Collis Card Image Editor allows issuers and acquirers to create card images dynamically without the need of real physical cards. This speeds up the testing process as it produces many card images quickly, and provides more flexibility in card or terminal testing as you are not restricted by waiting for specific test cards.

Combined with the Collis EMV Personalization Validation Tool, this is useful for issuers in data preparation and validation. Combine with the Collis Card Simulator, acquirers can use the saved card image as a simulated card for terminal testing purposes.

The tool:

  • Easily create, load, edit, and update card images, applications, and file structures
  • Controls over the value of each parameter
  • Automatically cross referencing to EMV specifications
  • Provide a variety of specialty editors including CVM (Card Verification Method), Track 1 and 2, and DOL (Data Object List) editor Š
  • Supports single and multi application
  • Supports contact, contactless, and dual interfaces
  • Supports payment schemes such as EMV, MasterCard (Maestro, Cirrus, PayPass, SecureCode, PayPass MagStripe, M/Chip, PayPass M/Chip, CAP), Visa (VSDC, VCPS, Electron, VPAY, Plus, payWave), Interac, SPAN, JCB, AmEx

Collis Host Test Tool

Given that an infrastructure for card-based transactions is complicated involving a long chain of systems interacting with each other, a disruption in this network could have serious outcomes.

The Collis Host Test Tool consists of several modules, all of which will help the different aspects of your testing project. A typical set-up in any card-based payment involves a terminal (POS/ATM) that is connected via a series of networks to a card issuing system for authorization against the cardholder’s account.

The card issuing system will either authorize or decline the transaction and generate a response which must be delivered back to the terminal in a timely manner.

Given that an infrastructure for card-based transactions is complicated involving a long chain of systems interacting with each other, a disruption in this network could have serious outcomes.

The following modules are available:

- Issuer Host Simulator
- Network Simulator
- Acquirer Host Simulator
- Terminal Simulator
- Transaction Generator
- Transaction Validator
- Network Spy

The Collis Host Test Tool helps you to avoid any major disruption by testing major links in the network by simulating the vital links such as Card/Terminal (transaction generator), Acquirer Host, Network or Issuer Host.
